Jan Aleksander Socko (Jan Wagner) was born in 1937. He was a talented opera singer and performed at the National Opera in Warsaw in the 1950s, then started painting and took part in exhibitions at the Barbacane in Warsaw in 1962-1967. He participated in many international exhibitions, including in 1963 at the Biennale Mostra Internazionale Antoniana di Pittura e Scultura in Padua. In the years 1972-1976 he took part in promotional shows organised in Belgium and the Netherlands by the firm Prokonsys, where he presented his works with the famous Dutch artist Karel Appel. In 1981 he exhibited in Turo, Cornwall, at an event organised by the Cultural and Leisure Complexes. And in 1985 he had an individual exhibition in Bergisch Gladbach during the event "Warsaw Aktuell". Jan Wagner's paintings are in private collections in Poland and abroad, in many galleries and museums, including Selected Artist Galleries in New York, Miami, the Art. Gallery of Toronto, Grange Park in Canada and Anna Lewin in London, Jan Kleinewefers Sammlung. He died in Warsaw in 1988.
